CBS's newest primetime sitcom, 2 Broke Girls, has all the makings of a great show - funny script, good storyline, shirtless men. It's just missing one thing...actors.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm a huge fan of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist actress, Kat Dennings, but this isn't the show for her. Both twenty-somethings can't quite seem to grasp the offbeat, sometimes raunchy humor that's clearly a result of comedian Whitney Cumming's involvement on the series. These two miss the mark on delivery almost every time, making me feel as if this new series could be a great show, if only it was recast.
My top two picks for a perfect blend of sarcastic/edgy humor mixed with knee slapping comedy are Ellen Page and Amanda Bynes. Think Juno meets What I Like About You. Ellen, as Max, would have that dry humor and quick wit, and could actually be believable as a down-on-her-luck young adult trying to make a living working at a diner. Now that Amanda is back to acting (until she decides to quit again via Twitter), she would be my ideal choice for Caroline. Her comedic timing and unique ability to achieve physical comedy would definitely give the audience something to laugh about.
But not all shows are perfect, and since we can't really recast 2 Broke Girls at least we still have New Girl to watch.
