American Idol Finds New Ways To Fail

Just when I thought American Idol couldn't get any worse, yhe reality singing competition announced that it is lowering the age requirement to 15. Contestants previously had to be between the ages of 16 and 28.

I am not looking forward to a Season 10 filled with Diana DeGarmos, Katie Stevens, Tim Urbans and David Archulettas. It would have made more sense to raise the age restriction to 30 instead of lower it, giving more mature performers their shot at fame.

It seems Idol just doesn't want to miss out on the tween craze. Justin Beiber has said prior to signing with Usher he wanted to audition for Idol but was  too young, and 12-year-old Greyson Chance made headlines for his YouTube performance of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi.  Idol should leave discovering tween sensations to the Internet and Disney channel.
